Google compared Argon against three rivals: GPT-6 Astra, Claude Fable 5.1 and Claude Opus 5.5. Argon wins the headline DeepSWE test (77.9%), but the gap to Opus 5.5 (74.2%) and Astra (74.1%) is small, and both beat Argon somewhere important:
- Claude Opus 5.5 is nine points ahead of Argon on Terminal-bench 4.0 and leads PostTrainBench, a machine-learning engineering test. It's also very hard to trick: 1.0% prompt-injection success on Gray Swan, close to Argon's 0.7%.
- GPT-6 Astra leads FrontierSWE v2 by more than ten points over Argon, and wins on OSWorld-2.0 and Terminal-Bench Science.

If your documents are enormous, keep an eye on Argon: its lead on the 256K to 1M-token GraphWalks test (84.2% vs 71.8% for the next model) suggests it holds onto details in very long inputs better than the rest.
